NSC decides to approach international forums over Indus Water Treaty violation
The National Security Committee (NSC) meeting has decided to approach international forums over India’s violation of the Indus Waters Treaty.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired an NSC meeting to discuss India’s recent unilateral actions following the attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir.
The NSC deliberated on a series of provocative steps taken by India, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, restrictions on the entry of Pakistani nationals, the closure of the Wagah border, and the reduction of diplomatic staff.
The committee thoroughly reviewed these developments and discussed a range of countermeasures.
Participants also examined the evolving regional security landscape, internal and external threats to Pakistan’s national security, and escalating tensions along the borders.
Special attention was given to what Pakistani officials have labeled a false flag operation in Pahalgam, which they believe India used as a pretext for its hostile actions.
The NSC “unanimously rejected” India’s allegations against Pakistan and approved a robust response strategy.
The committee “resolved to raise the issue of India’s treaty violations, particularly regarding the Indus Waters Treaty, at relevant international platforms.”
The members reaffirmed that Pakistan will not tolerate any aggression and vowed a firm, proportionate response to any future misadventure.
The committee also expressed complete confidence in the preparedness and capability of Pakistan’s armed forces to defend the nation.
The meeting included Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Special Assistants to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, and Attorney General Mansoor Awan, all of whom have already arrived at the Prime Minister’s House.
The session also included key officials such as the Foreign, Interior, and Defense Ministers, the National Security Advisor, the Chiefs of the three armed forces, senior intelligence officers, and other relevant authorities.
Additionally, consultations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have taken place, with the decision to respond diplomatically to India’s aggressive stance.
