The PML-N and the PPP won one seat each in the postponed second phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections, according to unofficial and provisional results announced on Wednesday.

Polling in two constituencies of Muzaffarabad division — LA-27 Muzaffarabad-I and LA-28 Muzaffarabad-II — had been postponed on August 2 due to adverse weather conditions and landslides affecting 57 polling stations.

According to complete unofficial results from all 197 polling stations in LA-27 Muzaffarabad-I, PML-N candidate Noreen Arif won the seat with 18,919 votes.

The Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party’s Sardar Tabarak Ali finished second with 18,621 votes, while PPP candidate Javed Ayub secured 18,037 votes.

In LA-28 Muzaffarabad-II, PPP candidate Bazil Ali Naqvi emerged victorious after securing 28,214 votes, according to unofficial results from all 174 polling stations.

PML-N candidate Chaudhry Shehzad Mahmood came second with 26,866 votes.

With the latest results, PML-N has secured 24 seats in the AJK Legislative Assembly, giving it a simple majority to form the government, while the PPP has won 10 seats.

Earlier, in Muzaffarabad division alone, PML-N won 15 of the 21 seats, while the PPP secured the remaining six.

The election process is yet to conclude, with polling for 11 constituencies in Poonch division scheduled to be held on August 10.
