Key Karachi road blocked as protest over canals enters fourth day
The protest against disputed canals in Sindh has entered its fourth day, with lawyers in Karachi staging a sit-in on MA Jinnah Road, causing significant traffic disruptions.
Transportation in Sukkur and Nawabshah has been severely impacted, leaving both transporters and passengers stranded.
In Daharki, demonstrators have blocked the road, halting the movement of vehicles supplying goods to Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The situation has escalated as lawyers have blocked MA Jinnah Road near the KMC headquarters, leading to a complete halt in traffic. A sit-in has also been ongoing for four days at the Baburlo Bypass.
The suspension of traffic on the Sukkur National Highway has resulted in the spoilage of date palm produce valued at Rs25 million and millions of rupees worth of potatoes, while a large quantity of medicines is deteriorating due to the extreme heat.
A protest has been underway for 48 hours on the national highway in the Muro tehsil of Nawabshah, causing long lines of vehicles and significant challenges for transporters and travelers alike.

In Daharki, protesters have blocked the national highway, disrupting the supply of goods to Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The demonstrators have declared that if Punjab can cut off their water supply, they will prevent any products or minerals from Sindh from being sent to Punjab until the controversial project is revoked.
