The Foreign Office of Pakistan on Wednesday summoned Indian Chargé d’Affaires Geetika Srivastava and lodged a strong protest over India’s recent hostile actions, delivering a formal demarche in the process.

According to diplomatic sources, Srivastava was summoned to the Foreign Office shortly before the protest note was handed over. Pakistan also shared a comprehensive list of decisions taken during the recent National Security Committee (NSC) meeting, reflecting Islamabad’s response to India’s aggressive posture.

The Indian envoy was officially informed about Pakistan’s decision to declare the Indian High Commission’s defence, air, and naval attachés as persona non grata, directing them and their supporting staff to leave the country.

Additionally, Pakistan conveyed its decision to downgrade diplomatic ties and reduce the Indian High Commission’s staff strength to 30 members. All Indian nationals, except Sikh pilgrims, have been given 48 hours to leave Pakistan, and the Wagah border crossing has been closed until further notice.

The Foreign Office also notified India of its decision to suspend the use of Pakistani airspace for all Indian commercial flights. Furthermore, Pakistan hinted at suspending the Simla Agreement and other bilateral treaties if India unilaterally withdraws from the Indus Waters Treaty.

Diplomatic sources added that India was also informed of the complete suspension of all trade relations, including indirect trade. These measures, officials said, were undertaken in light of the NSC’s deliberations and in line with the guidance of both civil and military leadership.

Pakistan maintains that the recent Indian actions represent a clear threat to regional peace and stability, and that it will continue to defend its sovereignty through diplomatic and legal channels.
