Opposition alliance decides to press ahead with September 8 rally
The Grand Opposition Alliance held an emergency meeting in Islamabad, where it was decided that the planned rally on September 8 will proceed as scheduled.
Raoof Hasan, a key figure in the Alliance, announced the decision during a press conference, also revealing plans for further rallies in Lahore on September 22 and in Karachi on September 12. These rallies will be organized by the 12 opposition parties participating in the Alliance.
The meeting also saw the formation of a committee headed by Mahmoud Khan Achakzai to address the situation in Balochistan. The committee will travel across the country and present its recommendations within a week.
Hasan stated that the Alliance will convene an All-Parties Conference (APC) to discuss the issue of terrorism in Balochistan.
He also mentioned a recent meeting between a PTI delegation and Akhtar Mengal, the leader of the Balochistan National Party (BNP), where Mengal reportedly assured the delegation that he would consider their concerns.
The Alliance’s decision to proceed with the September 8 rally and its focus on Balochistan highlights the growing concerns within the opposition about the current political situation in Pakistan.
