ATC seeks report from Adiala superintendent on Khan’s court appearance

The Anti-Terrorism Court has sought a report regarding from the Adiala Jail superintendent regarding the production of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in the judicial complex vandalism cases at the Judicial Complex.

Meanwhile, Judge Tahir Abbas Supra has issued nonbailable warrants against the accused who was absent during the last hearing.

The judge has given the last chance to the accused to appear in the next hearing or bail will be forfeited.

Judge Supra heard the cases filed against PTI founder Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Omar Ayub and other leaders in the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Police Station Golra Sharif.

The hearing has been adjourned until July 29.

He stated that a challan (investigation report) of 176 accused, including the PTI founder and Pervez Elahi, has been filed to which advocate Sardar Masroof stated that Asad Umar has already been discharged from this case.

The cases against Imran Khan and other PTI leaders include charges under Sections 148, 149, 186, 353, 380, 395, 427, 435, 440 and 506.

Ali Nawaz Awan, Omar Ayub, and Ali Amin Gandapur are currently on interim bail in these vandalism cases.

The Islamabad Police registered a case against PTI Chairman Imran Khan and others at the CTD Police Station for charges including terrorism, about the tensions and clashes that occurred outside the Federal Judicial Complex.

On March 18, 2023, during Imran Khan’s appearance in the Toshakhana case, there were hours-long clashes between Islamabad police and PTI workers. The PTI supporters and police had used tear gas. The PTI also resorted to petrol bombs and stone-throwing against the police vehicles.
