Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep concern over the situation in Kyrgyzstan and has directed the Pakistani Ambassador to provide all possible assistance to Pakistani students.

The Prime Minister has contacted the Pakistani ambassador in Kyrgyzstan, commanding him to visit the hostels and meet the students to assist and support them.

The Pakistani ambassador said that Pakistanis were not killed in the incident, and that the embassy was helping the injured students.

The Prime Minister instructed him to be in constant contact with the parents of the students in Kyrgyzstan, providing them with information.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed the Pakistani embassy in Kyrgyzstan to provide medical support to any injured Pakistani students and arrange the return of injured students who wish to come back to Pakistan, as the government will bear their travel expenses.

“I am monitoring the situation in Kyrgyzstan myself and will not leave my students alone; our government is also in contact with the government of Kyrgyzstan,” the PM said.

Violent clashes have erupted between student groups in the capital city of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, with reports of attackers using batons.
