How to get ‘pink scooty’ for Women in Sindh

Sharjeel Memon confirms that fares on Green Line would remain unchanged

The Sindh government has announced to provide free “pink scooters” to women.

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated while addressing the media that special initiatives for women would be taken with “pink scooters”, which will be free of cost.

He revealed that those who meet the criteria will need a valid driving license to attain this opportunity.

Two weeks ago, these “pink scooters” would be awarded through a lottery scheme, which would be organised in an open event.

Moreover, Memon stated that a pink taxi service will soon be introduced to offer safe and comfortable travel options for women.

He expressed the ambition to be the first government in Pakistan to launch an EV taxi service.

BRT and Green Line projects

Memon issued on-site directives, highlighting that no delays would be tolerated in completing the Yellow Line BRT, with a goal to finish the project ahead of schedule.

He emphasized that the Sindh government is working diligently to provide the public with maximum facilities. While the project was initially expected to be completed by September 2025, it is now slated for completion by May 2025, five months ahead of the original timeline.

He acknowledged the significant utility challenges common during construction but assured that the Sindh government is dedicated to addressing these issues.

Sindh Minister pointed out existing challenges related to civil aviation, the water board, and K4, which he affirmed to be resolved shortly.

He commended the Transport Department officials for their excellent work and efforts in expediting project completion.

He confirmed that fares on the Green Line would remain unchanged, and additional facilities would be introduced to enhance public transport services.

Sharjeel Inam Memon urged the Prime Minister to fulfill his commitment to providing 180 buses for Karachi, stressing that this is the right of the city’s residents. He reiterated the importance of the Prime Minister honoring his promise to improve Karachi’s public transport system.
