Minor killed in exchange of fire between PPP, MQM-P
A minor was killed and four people were injured in an exchange of fire between workers of the PPP and MQM-P on Friday night, sources said.
Supporters of the two major parties resorted to firing after a heating argument in the city’s New Karachi area. They were conducting an election campaign in the Sector J-11 of the area.
Pakistan is scheduled to hold elections on February 8. Over 128 million are registered voters, according to the Election Commission of Pakistan, as of December 13, 2023 data.
Police reached the site of the incident and shifted casualties to the hospital.
Dr Fouzia Hameed of the MQM-P from NA-229 has demanded action against the PPP. In a statement, she said that it was unacceptable to target her party workers and resort to violence.
It was important to take immediate measures to ensure peace in the area, she added.
