PTI’s election manifesto says PM will directly be elected by people
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Barrister Gohar Khan on Sunday unveiled the party’s election manifesto promising constitutional reforms along with the formation of a truth and reconciliation commission.
“One of the reforms would be that the prime minister will directly be selected by the people. “We will decrease the National Assembly’s tenure to four years,” he said during a press conference in Islamabad.
The 168-page manifesto was titled ‘Shandaar Pakistan, Shandaar Mustaqbil aur Kharaab Maazi sey Chutkara’.
Khan also promised to bring reforms to the criminal and civil procedures in the country, saying that some of the laws were either too lengthy or too complicated.
“The Code of Criminal Procedure will be reformed so that the people are protected and guilty cannot escape justice,” he said.
Khan also promised to establish a truth and reconciliation commission to address the injustices faced by the people of the country.
According to him, the PTI government would introduce a universal health card for the masses.
On the education system, he said the party aimed to bring reforms in the sector and introduce a singular education system throughout the country.
