Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra became the latest victim of deepfake technology after Alia Butt, Katrina Kaif, Rashmika Mandanna, and Kajol when a deepfake video of her began circulating on the internet.

However, the content of Chopra’s video is different from prior videos of top Bollywood actresses.

In the video, Chopra’s appearance remains unchanged but her voice is morphed in such a way that the original audio has been replaced by fake advertisement content.

The actress can be heard endorsing a brand. She even discloses her annual earnings while promoting this brand in the deepfake video.

Deepfake AI is a type of artificial intelligence used to create convincing images, and audio and video hoaxes. The term describes both the technology and the resulting bogus content.

Indian actresses are being targeted with deepfakes and the sudden emergence of such AI increased the menace of defamation which forced the government to take action against culprits who are misusing AI.
