Caretaker PM: Shehbaz rejects ex-CJP Justice (retd) Gulzar's nomination
PML-N chief Shehbaz Sharif, who was the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly until its dissolution, has rejected PM Imran Khan's nominee - former CJP Justice (retd) Gulzar Ahmed - for the post of caretaker prime minister.
Shehbaz, in a letter sent to President Alvi on Wednesday, also maintained that the NA deputy speaker's ruling regarding the vote on the no-confidence motion was unconstitutional as was the premier's decision to nominate Justice (retd) Gulzar Ahmed as caretaker prime minister.
The letter further stated that the prime minister's decision to have the NA dissolved was also controverisal due to which the Supreme Court took suo motu notice.
Earlier on Tuesday, during the Supreme Court hearing on the NA speaker's ruling, Shehbaz Sharif's lawyer contended that the nomination of the former CJP for the post of caretaker prime minister was "not only a blatant attempt to influence the court but also smacks of mala fide and is in very poor taste".
