QUETTA: Disgruntled Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) members on Monday submitted no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Jam Kamal in the provincial assembly.

Members of the provincial assembly opposing the incumbent chief minister insisted that he has lost the support of majority in the assembly. They said that Jam Kaml was supported by just 24 of the legislators in the 65-member house.

Zahoor Buledi, Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, Mir Naseebullah Marri and others are included who submitted the no-confidence motion.

The motion, jointly submitted to the secretary of the assembly, accused Jam Kamal of bad governance, saying that this had created a deep sense of frustration, lawlessness and unemployment in the province. Bad governance, the motion added, was also responsible for inaction of various departments and institutions.

The no-confidence motion will be sent by the Balochistan Assembly Secretariat to the provincial governor. If the governor approves it, a session of the assembly will be convened in 7-10 days to discuss the motion.

Addressing a press conference along with other members after submitting no-confidence motion, Zahoor Buledi said that 14 lawmakers signed on the motion, adding that the majority members of Balochistan Assembly have expressed no confidence in Jam Kamal Khan.

“The Balochistan Assembly speaker should summon session immediately and present a no-confidence motion. “We again warn CM Jam Kamal to resign himself,” he said.

Meanwhile, Opposition Leader in Balochistan Assembly Malik Sikandar Khan Advocate said that the government has done all undemocratic acts with the opposition for the last three years. “Tensions arose within the ruling party from May. Opposition is being discriminated at every turn. A no-confidence motion was filed on September 14. The chief minister does not have a majority.”
