Pakistan reports 2,600 new Covid cases, 21 deaths
Newly released figures from NCOC on Sunday show an uptick in the number of people testing positive in the last 24 hours. At least 21 people died.
According to the NCOC, 48,816 people tested for coronavirus of which 2607 tested positive. The positivity rate stands at 5.34%.
This brings the number of people who have had Covid to 989,275, while the number of active cases in the country stands at 47,331.
Figures show that 919,163 people have recovered from Covid, while 22,781 have died due to it.
Sindh announces new measures
The Sindh Home Ministry has issued new directives in a bid to contain the rising number of cases in Sindh and Karachi.
Only those who are vaccinated can travel on buses, go to cattle markets, check into hotels, even attend weddings.
The government also issued a smart lockdown in Korangi district until July 31, ostensibly to contain the spread of the virus.
Earlier, Sindh government shut down schools, indoor dining, tourist spots, gyms as some new measures to contain the virus.
