NCOC's figures released on Thursday show that Covid's positivity rate has crossed 5 percent at 5.2% in the last 24 hours. This, coupled with Asad Umar's warning about rising cases across the country, should cause concern for Pakistanis.

As Thursday's figures from the last 24 hours show, 2545 people tested positive from the 48,910 people who tested for Covid. 47 people died in the same period.

Asad Umar also tweeted expressing concern about the Delta variant -- which he refers to as the Indian variant -- that "has caused devastation across the region."

Although Umar and NCOC did not give any specifics about the Delta variant in Pakistan, Federal Parliamentary Health Secretary Dr Nausheen Hamid told Geo News on Tuesday that it accounted for 50% of the Covid cases in Pakistan.

The Sindh health department also confirmed on Tuesday that it had detected 35 patients with the Delta variant.

All health officials are encouraging people to get vaccinated.

NCOC also tweeted the total number of people vaccinated so far: 21,660,650.
