Punjab govt announces lockdown in districts with higher positivity rates
LAHORE: Punjab government on Monday has announced to impose lockdown in the districts with higher coronavirus positivity rates.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar announced the new restrictions at a press conference on Saturday.
Buzdar's announcement comes after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Coronavirus which reviewed the pandemic situation.
The Cabinet Committee approved a strategy to strictly implement the decisions of the NCOC, after which a policy of micro-smart lockdown will be adopted across the province.
According to sources, Chief Minister Usman Bazdar, while endorsing strict measures in view of the severity of Corona in Punjab, ordered the closure of all parks and restaurants, while only takeaways will be allowed in restaurants.
Under the new restrictions, bans have been placed on mass transit, wedding ceremonies, indoor and outdoor gatherings and other recreational activities.
