1 min readVote count in several cities in Gilgit-Baltistan began after polling came to an end at 5pm.
Voting process began at 8am and ended at 5pm without any interval. Polling in most constituencies went smoothly throughout the day. However, in Ghizer, Hunza, Sost and Baltistan heavy snowfall continued, restricting citizens to their houses.
A total of 745,361 voters were expected to be voting for 23 constituencies across 1,160 polling stations on Sunday. Gilgit Baltistan region's administration said at least 15,900 law enforcement personnel would be deployed for security purposes.
As many as 330 candidates, including four women, are contesting the elections.
What to expect: According to political analysts and a survey by Gallup Pakistan, a tough battle can be expected between PTI and PPP. However, a large number of voters who participated in the Gallup survey seem to favor the ruling PTI.
