July 9, is observed to be the death anniversary of Fatima Jinnah ‘the mother of nation’. Today is Fatima Jinnah’s 47th death anniversary being observed and remembered with great respect, honor and reverence.

Fatima Jinnah, a lady with charismatic personality and fearless spirit inherited the poised charm and courage from his dynamic and brave brother Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah ‘the father of nation’ and fought alone fearlessly after his death in the interest of the nation and Pakistan.

Fatima Jinnah died in Karachi on 9 July 1967. The official cause of death was heart failure, but rumours persist that she was murdered at her house. It is claimed that some officials of the local Karachi police said that she was found beheaded in her drawing room. In 2003, the nephew of the Quaid-i-Azam, Akbar Pirbhai, reignited the controversy by suggesting that she was assassinated by the Ayub Khan establishment.

Her exemplary struggle before and after the formation of Pakistan is unforgettable, her selfless services are remembered today in the minds and hearts of every Pakistani. On this mournful day when we lost our dynamic hero , a number of functions‚ conferences and seminars are held all over the country paying rich tribute to the Madar-e-Millat. Her name is written in golden words in the history of Pakistan everlastingly and will always be remembered wit beautiful words.
