Will remain PM till Parliament’s support: Gilani

LAHORE: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, while addressing the media on Friday, stated that he was not bound by anyone else's decision. "Until and Unless, the Parliament supports me, I would remain the Prime Minister," stated Gilani.

Gilani, while talking to the media,  was accompanied by the Pakistan Muslim League - Q (PML-Q) leadership in Lahore on Friday.

On the NATO issue, Gilani stated that though the Parliament's committee has forwarded its recommendation on the NATO issue, no decision has yet been taken with respect to its resumption. He further stated that President Asif Ali Zardari had received an unconditional offer to attend the Chicago summit.

While answering a question,  Gilani said that the current government was the only elected government in the country's history to present a 5th budget. He stated that the first priority with respect to the budget would be to eliminate or diminish the load-shedding issue within the country.

He further added that the provinces should be asked to produce electricity and not be totally dependent upon the Federal authorities. He also stated that an emergency room had been created in order to address and control the load-shedding issue.

With regards to the his eligibility, the PM stated that he would remain the Premier until the Parliament's support.

On this occasion, Chaudhry Shujaat stated that the ones who defied the Prime Minister have never respected the judiciary themselves.

Pointing towards the PML-N, Shujaat stated that the main culprits are those who attacked the judiciary. "PML-N is acting as the judiciary and the Parliament itself," stated the PML-Q leader.
