'Role as crime reporter is tribute to women: Rani Mukherjee
Actor Rani Mukherjee today said her role as a female crime reporter- 'Meera Gati'- in 'No One Killed Jessica' is a tribute to the fiesty modern Indian girl.
Rani, who acts along with Vidya Balan in the film, to be released on January 7, 2011, said her character resembles the contemporary Indian woman who is a firebrand and is taking charge in every field she is in.
''I salute the female crime reporter, and I enjoyed my role for the same. Today, I see girl reporters get pushed around as much as the men, showing they get no special preference,'' she said.
Interacting with media before a radio show with co-star Vidya Balan, here, Rani said the film was 'woman centric' because of the requirement of the script which was based on the murder of model Jessica Lal, about eight ago in Delhi.
''Rani is a big tease, spontaneous and great fun. But she can get into her role in an instant. We are getting a lot of compliments and questions on facebook, and being asked how does it feel to be working together,'' Balan said.
