Balochistan presents Rs1.089tr budget with focus on health, education
1 min readBalochistan Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani on Wednesday presented a Rs1.089 trillion budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 in the provincial assembly, with significant allocations for health, education and agriculture.
Presenting the budget during an ongoing assembly session, the finance minister said the provincial government had utilised 115 per cent of its development funds during the outgoing fiscal year.
The proposed budget earmarks Rs96 billion for the health sector, while Rs90 billion has been allocated for non-development health expenditures.
For education, the government has proposed an allocation of Rs127 billion, reflecting its focus on improving access to and quality of education across the province.
An additional Rs31 billion has been set aside for higher and technical education, aimed at enhancing skills development and strengthening professional training institutions.
The agriculture sector is proposed to receive Rs23.6 billion, as the government seeks to support farmers and boost agricultural productivity.
To strengthen law and order, the budget allocates Rs243 million in development funding and Rs1.2 billion in non-development expenditures for the security sector.
The budget proposals will now be debated in the provincial assembly before final approval.
