Heatwave triggers rise in diarrhoea cases among children
1 min readHealth experts have warned of a rise in diarrhoea and dehydration cases among children as intense heat continues across the country, urging parents to use low-osmolarity ORS to prevent serious health complications.
Doctors say severe dehydration caused by diarrhoea can become dangerous for children if treatment is delayed, leading to extreme weakness and other medical risks.
According to medical experts, children suffering from diarrhoea should immediately be given low-osmolarity oral rehydration solution (ORS), which contains lower levels of glucose and sodium to help the body absorb water more effectively.
They said the increasing temperatures are contributing to a growing number of dehydration-related illnesses, particularly among children.
Doctors also advised parents to ensure children remain hydrated during the heat and seek medical attention if symptoms worsen.
