HBL PSL 11: Karachi Kings beat Quetta by 14 runs
2 min readKarachi Kings launched their HBL PSL (Pakistan Super League) season 11 campaign with a 14-run victory over Quetta Gladiators in the second match at Gaddafi Stadium on Friday.
Defending a target of 182, Karachi restricted Quetta to 167 for seven despite a strong start from the opposition.
Earlier, Karachi Kings posted 181 for seven after being put under early pressure. Mohammad Wasim fell for just three in the opening over, but Salman Ali Agha and captain David Warner rebuilt with a 41-run stand.
Warner top-scored with 35, while Saad Baig made 30 and Agha contributed 22. Azam Khan added 14, while Shahid Aziz and Hasan Ali chipped in with 8 and 7, respectively.
The innings was anchored by Moeen Ali, who remained unbeaten on 48 off 29 balls. He shared a crucial 39-run partnership with Khushdil Shah, who scored 12, to lift Karachi to a competitive total.
For Quetta Gladiators, Ahmed Daniyal claimed three wickets, while Alzarri Joseph took two. Abrar Ahmed and Usman Tariq picked up one wicket each.
In reply, Quetta Gladiators failed to capitalise on a promising start and finished on 167 for seven. Shamil Hussain led the scoring with 52, while captain Saud Shakeel made 33. Rilee Rossouw scored 25, and Hasan Nawaz added 19.
Karachi’s bowling attack was led by Hasan Ali, who took four wickets. Moeen Ali, Adam Zampa and Salman Ali Agha claimed one wicket each to seal the win.
The two sides have now faced each other 21 times in PSL history, with Quetta still leading the head-to-head 13-8.
On Saturday, Peshawar Zalmi will face Lahore Qalandars in the afternoon match, while Islamabad United take on Multan Sultans in the evening fixture.
