Kashmiri singer Sakeena Reshi quits music industry following path of Islam
A celebrated Kashmiri singer, Reshi Sakeena, has officially stepped away from the music industry in the name of Islam.
Social media is abuzz with comparisons of her before and after photos; previously known for her colorful outfits, she is now seen wearing a hijab.
Reports indicate that Sakeena’s decision to leave music was driven by her fear of God and concern for the afterlife. The 25-year-old artist hails from a middle-class family in Bandipora, Jammu and Kashmir, where her father was a poet.
After her mother passed away, she left school after completing her matriculation to take on family responsibilities.
Initially a martial arts athlete, Sakeena transitioned to music, learning to play instruments and dreaming of making a name for herself in the industry.
Despite her rapid rise and popularity at weddings and events, her fans were left shocked by her recent announcement. In a video shared online, the singer, now in a burqa, is seen with a local cleric who confirmed her decision to repent and withdraw from social media life.
