A team of doctors conducted a medical examination of former Prime Minister Imran Khan at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Sunday, officials and sources said.

An ambulance from Holy Family Hospital arrived at the jail earlier and entered through gate number five, according to sources.

According to the sources, the ambulance carried medicines, medical equipment, and specialised machines, particularly for eye examinations.

A team of specialist doctors carried out a detailed medical examination of the PTI founder, the sources added.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan’s preliminary medical report has been sent to the Punjab government.

The report includes a complete record of his blood pressure, pulse rate, body temperature, and blood sugar levels.

His current eye condition has also been documented in writing.

The sources said jail medical staff are conducting daily check-ups of the former prime minister and compiling all records on a regular basis.

In view of the sensitivity of the matter, the federal government has constituted a special medical panel comprising Dr Amjad and Dr Nadeem Qureshi.

The panel will examine Khan in jail and submit its recommendations.

The government has stated that a decision on whether to shift Imran Khan to a hospital for treatment will be made in light of the medical board’s report.

On the other hand, the PTI has expressed concern over its founder’s health, calling it a serious issue and stressing that all stages of treatment must be carried out with complete transparency.

Government circles said the future course of action will be decided after the medical board submits its recommendations.

For now, arrangements for the medical examination inside the jail have been finalised, and authorities are awaiting the experts’ report.
