Punjab to celebrate Basant festival in Lahore from February 6-8
The Punjab government has approved the celebration of Basant in Lahore from February 6 to 8, according to officials familiar with the decision.
The approval was granted during a high-level meeting chaired by Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb.
Sources said the government would enforce Basant-related laws strictly to ensure public safety.
Motorcyclists will be required to install safety rods during the three festival days.
Kite string production will be allowed only at designated locations in Lahore, and the manufacture or sale of substandard or chemical-coated string will remain strictly prohibited.
Ahead of the festival, the Home Department has begun formal registration of kite and string manufacturers, sellers and kite-flying associations across Punjab.
Officials said the process aims to make kite-flying activities regulated and safer.
Further guidelines and enforcement measures are expected as the festival dates approach.
