The Punjab government has distributed a total of Rs6.39 billion among flood-affected families, sources said on Thursday.

Under the Punjab Flood Rehabilitation Programme, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has completed flood assessment surveys in 90 per cent of the affected areas and compiled data for 569,000 families impacted by the recent floods.

Officials said data for 463,000 flood victims has been verified through deputy commissioners to ensure transparency.

Over 98,000 ATM cards have been prepared in collaboration with the Bank of Punjab for compensation payments to the victims.

As part of the initiative, 37 camps have been established in 27 flood-hit districts for the disbursement of compensation, the sources said.

The distribution process began on October 20 in 13 districts, while the second phase — covering the remaining districts — will commence on November 3.

At the camps, each affected family is being provided Rs50,000 in cash along with ATM services. The Bank of Punjab’s ATMs allow withdrawals of up to Rs300,000 per day.

Camps have been set up across 36 tehsils, including in Bahawalnagar, Depalpur, Jhang, Nankana Sahib, Muzaffargarh, Chiniot, and Khairpur Tamewali.
