Sindh extends Rs2,000 fuel subsidy for motorcycle owners
1 min readSindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has approved an extension of the targeted fuel subsidy for motorcycle owners, providing continued relief as petrol prices remain elevated.
The subsidy, which was due to expire, will now remain in place, allowing eligible citizens to continue receiving Rs2,000 per month.
Earlier this month, the provincial government introduced the cash support programme for registered motorcycle owners, with payments to be disbursed digitally within 15 days after verification through the excise department’s application system.
Officials said Sindh has approximately 6.7 million registered motorcycles. The government has also made ownership transfers free to expand eligibility for the scheme.
Authorities linked the measure to rising global oil prices and regional instability, which have driven up fuel import costs and increased financial pressure on consumers.
The Sindh government says the initiative is part of broader efforts to cushion citizens from inflation while managing ongoing energy and economic challenges.
