LHC hearing on viral video of Kasur dance party suspects
The Lahore High Court expressed strong disapproval of the police officers involved in recording a controversial video of suspects from the Kasur dance party.
During the proceedings, Justice Ali Zia Bajwa questioned the Station House Officer (SHO), asking, “Did you shine a flashlight in their faces?”
The SHO defended the actions by stating, “Was it only for police records?” The court pressed further, questioning the legality of such recordings for police documentation. Justice Bajwa criticized the officers’ conduct, stating, “How did you have the audacity to do this?”
A lawyer representing the suspects revealed that the dance party was organized by the personal staff officer of the District Police Officer (DPO), claiming, “We have a call regarding this matter.”
The SHO confirmed that the DPO’s staff officer had messaged them about attending a birthday celebration.
