Former Malaysian prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi passes away at 85
Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, has passed away at the age of 85. He was admitted to the hospital the day before his passing due to breathing difficulties.
Family members and Malaysia’s Minister of Health confirmed his death through social media.
Abdullah Ahmad Badawi served as Prime Minister of Malaysia from 2003 to 2009. Badawi became Prime Minister after the resignation of Mahathir Mohamad in 2003.
He also held the position of Chairman of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
In 2017, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi visited Pakistan and met with then-Foreign Adviser Sartaj Aziz to discuss bilateral relations and global cooperation.
