Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori has visited the grieving family of Abdul Qayum and Zainab, the couple tragically killed in a recent road accident at Malir Halt, Karachi.
The couple also lost their unborn child in the devastating incident, where a heavy trailer crushed their motorcycle.
Governor, accompanied by members of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), met with Zainab’s father at his residence in Shah Faisal Colony. During the visit, prayers were offered for the deceased, and heartfelt condolences were extended to the family,
“This incident is unforgettable,” the Governor stated, expressing his deep sorrow. He announced his intention to convene an All-Parties Conference (APC) to address the escalating number of traffic accidents in Karachi. “We must take concrete steps to prevent such tragedies in the future,” he emphasized.

Highlighting the limitations imposed by the 18th Amendment, the Governor acknowledged his restricted authority in directly implementing solutions. “Unfortunately, after the 18th Amendment, my ability to make direct decisions in this regard is limited,” he explained. However, he pledged to amplify his voice on every available platform to advocate for road safety improvements.

The Governor also called for substantial compensation for the victims of road accidents, suggesting a minimum of Rs2 crore per family. He further announced the allocation of a plot for the family of Abdul Qayum and Zainab, providing some measure of support during their immense grief. He also stated that Smart City has announced to give plots to victims family, and they are complying.
Governor attributed a significant portion of the blame for the “terrifying accidents” to “non-locals”. He urged political leadership to take a strong stance against this.
