A viral video has emerged showing an incident where a woman slapped a male security officer at the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. The security official instantly responds by slapping the woman repeatedly before other guards intervene.

A statement issued by the Saudi authorities said that they had completed the investigation and found the security official was performing his duties and that such incident will not be tolerated.

The video went viral on social media including on Pakistani accounts and many speculated about the nationality of the woman, with some suggesting she was from Pakistan. Some social media users even claimed that the incident occurred at Masjid al-Haram in Makkah.

However, the only credible and mainstream media report came from Saudi Gazette which reported that the incident happened in Madinah at the Prophet’s Mosque and Saudi police were investigating it.

The Saudi Gazette said that Madinah Region Police had confirmed that they responded promptly to the incident, which occurred when the woman attempted to use an unauthorized walkway.

“When instructed by the officer to take a different route, she slapped him in defiance, prompting the officer to retaliate by slapping her twice,” the newspaper said.

“In a statement issued on March 29, the Saudi General Directorate of Public Security affirmed that all necessary legal procedures are being followed,” the newspaper said.

Aaj News correspondent Zakaullah Mohsin later reported, citing Saudi officials, that an investigation into the incident has been completed, revealing that the female pilgrim obstructed the security official in the line of duty and assaulted him.

The authorities made it clear that such incidents will not be tolerated and anyone who attacks security personnel performing their duties at Masjid-e-Nabawi will face legal action, said Mohsin.

However, authorities have not disclosed the woman’s nationality or provided further details about the incident.

They reiterated their dedication to upholding the law and ensuring the safety of security personnel.

What is in the video

The viral video shows two woman approaching small plastic barricades. One of them appears to be of Pakistani origin. The other woman, slightly taller and strongly built, is wearing Hijab and leading the way. A security guard rushes to stop them.

The taller woman in Hijab slaps the security guard, who impulsively hits back, thrashing her multiple times.

Other male security officials intervene and one of the guards holds the woman by the arm, infuriating her further.

The women then appear to turn back. No female official is seen at the spot.
