Pakistan takes concrete steps to become ‘hard state’
Pakistan has initiated concrete measures to establish itself as a “hard state”, with a high-level committee now operational to oversee key national security and governance issues.
The 15-member committee, comprising federal and provincial officials, is chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
The committee includes home secretaries from all provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir, along with representatives from intelligence agencies and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).
Key responsibilities of the committee include monitoring the repatriation of Afghan nationals, reviewing crackdowns on the smuggling of illegal fuel and goods, and proposing measures to curb the rising trend of begging by Pakistani citizens in Saudi Arabia.
