Suspects arrested after looting private bank’s cash van in Peshawar
A daring daylight robbery shook the Hashtnagri area of Peshawar as armed robbers looted a Bank of Punjab cash van, making off with over Rs30 million.
However, swift police action led to the arrest of the suspects.
The heist
According to police sources, three armed men intercepted the cash van at gunpoint, seizing the cash before fleeing in a vehicle. Initial reports suggested the robbers escaped with more than Rs10 million.

Acting swiftly, the police launched an operation and arrested all three suspects.

Authorities recovered Rs25 million from their possession, while raids are ongoing to retrieve the remaining amount and track down other possible accomplices.
SSP Peshawar’s statement
SSP Masood Bangash confirmed that the looted amount exceeded Rs30 million.
However, the exact sum originally in the van is still being verified with the bank.
He also pointed out that the bank had failed to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cash transport, which contributed to the incident.
CCTV footage obtained
Police have secured CCTV footage from multiple locations, aiding the investigation.
According to SSP Bangash, four robbers were involved, two of whom arrived on motorcycles.
Further interrogation of the arrested suspects is underway, while efforts continue to recover the remaining stolen money.
