Former nazim shot dead in Peshawar, protesters block motorway
A former nazim was shot dead, and his associate was injured in a gun attack by unidentified assailants in Peshawar’s Budhni area.
The victim, identified as Haji Hameed Gul, was killed in indiscriminate firing, while his companion sustained bullet wounds.
A delay in registering the case led to a protest by residents, who accused the police of negligence.
Tensions escalated as Chamakani and Akbarpura police stations reportedly disputed jurisdiction over the case, further angering the demonstrators.

In response, protesters blocked the Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway near the toll plaza, bringing traffic to a halt.
Following the unrest, Chamakani police registered a case on the complaint of the injured Abdul Rehman and launched an investigation into the incident.
