Murad Ali Shah: PPP will never allow canals on the Indus, says

Says Bilawal Bhutto will take the people into confidence

On Pakistan Day, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, along with cabinet members, visited the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah to pay tribute.

Speaking to the media, CM Murad Ali Shah reiterated that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will never allow new canals to be built on the Indus River.

He assured that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto would personally take the public into confidence regarding the issue. He further stated that the party’s protest against canal construction is ongoing.

Addressing concerns raised in the media, Murad Ali Shah clarified that no new canals are currently under construction on the Indus River and that misleading narratives are being spread.

He added that PPP would only support a project if it does not harm Sindh’s water resources.

Call for unity

In his Pakistan Day message, the Sindh CM vowed never to forget the sacrifices of Pakistan’s great leaders. He emphasised that the day teaches unity, brotherhood, and cooperation. He reaffirmed PPP’s commitment to making Pakistan a hub of peace and prosperity.

Expressing support for the armed forces, Murad Ali Shah called them the nation’s pride, stating that the entire country stands united with them. He also urged national unity against terrorism, highlighting the need for collective efforts to ensure Pakistan’s welfare.

The CM stressed religious harmony, reaffirming that Pakistan guarantees equal rights and complete religious freedom for all its citizens. Reflecting on the historic Pakistan Resolution passed on 23 March 1940, he described it as a defining moment that laid the foundation for the country’s independence.

Governor Sindh calls for unity against terrorism

Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori also marked Pakistan Day by paying tribute to Quaid-e-Azam and recognising his tireless efforts and sacrifices. He stressed that Pakistan is a blessing and that its foundation was laid through immense dedication.

Condemning recent terrorist attacks, including the attack on Jaffar Express in Balochistan, Governor Tessori described them as conspiracies against Pakistan. He asserted that the entire nation stands with the armed forces and called for a united front to counter-terrorism.

He also urged political parties to set aside their differences for national security, emphasising that Pakistan’s development requires collective sacrifices and cooperation.

The governor concluded by assuring the nation that every enemy plot would fail and that Pakistan would emerge stronger and more prosperous.
