Is Trump worried about World War III? US plans to develop ‘Golden Dome’ defence system
US President Donald Trump has reportedly grown increasingly concerned about the possibility of World War III, prompting the United States to begin preparations for a new missile defence system called the Golden Dome.
According to foreign media reports, Trump, inspired by Israel’s Iron Dome missile defence system, has directed the US Department of Defense to develop a similar but more advanced system for America, to be named Golden Dome.
The primary goal of the Golden Dome system is to provide a shield for the United States by utilising space-based sensors and interceptors to detect and neutralise incoming missile threats.
Reports indicate that Trump envisions a system even more powerful than Israel’s Iron Dome, with the Golden Dome designed to protect the US from long-range missile threats. However, its development will require significant technological advancements.

Experts have warned that the project faces major technical and economic challenges. Some critics have dismissed it as impractical and prohibitively expensive.
Reports suggest that the Golden Dome is essentially a rebranded version of an earlier US missile defence plan inspired by Israel’s Iron Dome.
However, the two systems will serve different purposes — while the Iron Dome is designed to counter short-range threats to Israel, the Golden Dome aims to shield the entire United States from sophisticated threats such as ballistic and hypersonic missiles using space-based technology.
Trump has reportedly urged military officials to allocate billions of dollars for this project in the next budget.
However, critics argue that building such a system would require an extensive network of satellites, radars, and interceptors, making it extremely difficult and costly to maintain.
