The construction of a critical road project in Quetta, supervised by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, is underway, aiming to ease traffic congestion and enhance connectivity.

According to the details, the 3.7-kilometre-long road begins at Kidney Centre and connects to Airport Road.

A major component of the project is a one-kilometre-long flyover at Samungli Road, linking Sabzal Road to this route. Once completed, the flyover will resolve persistent traffic jams near the Kidney Centre.

The project features a six-lane road, service lanes, 20-foot-wide footpaths, and a dedicated utility corridor.

As an integral part of the North-South road network, it carries an estimated cost of Rs6 billion, with 30% of the work already completed.

Currently, commuters entering the city from Airport Road rely on a single route via Koyla Phatak. Any disruption on this stretch results in severe traffic bottlenecks, affecting mobility across North and South Quetta.

The Western Bypass serves as an alternative, but heavy traffic often causes congestion at Khizi Chowk. This new road is set to provide a much-needed solution, benefiting residents of Killi Barat, Killi Gul Mohammad, and surrounding areas.

The project’s extension will further enhance connectivity, linking Airport Road to Baleli Bypass and extending towards Sarai Garagai and Kuch Road.

In the south, it will integrate with the drainage channel near Bolan Medical College, reaching Sariab Custom and connecting to Sibi and Mastung roads.

Designed as a high-speed six-lane corridor, the road will significantly improve traffic flow.

CM Sarfraz Bugti is closely monitoring the project, addressing challenges to ensure its timely completion.

Authorities have been directed to accelerate work and deliver the project as soon as possible.
