Pakistan’s tallest man, Naseer Soomro, was laid to rest in his hometown of Shikarpur amid tears and mourning.

He passed away after a protracted illness at the age of 55.

The deceased’s brother voiced his frustration regarding the government’s lack of support.

No senior government official attended the funeral.

However, in a statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed profound sorrow over the death of Pakistan’s tallest man.

Additionally, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah conveyed his heartfelt condolences over Naseer Soomro’s passing.

According to his family, Soomro was hospitalized several times due to chronic lung disease but continued to strive against his declining health.

In acknowledgment of his stature, the government had provided him with a position at Pakistan International Airlines, the national flag carrier.

He stood at seven feet nine inches tall and was regarded as one of the tallest individuals in the world.

Soomro, who was born in 1973 in Shikarpur, Sindh, received his early education in his hometown before moving to Karachi, where he gained international recognition for his height.

For the past ten years, Naseer had been suffering from respiratory and joint diseases, and he had appealed for government assistance multiple times through video messages, but received no help.

In the past, Naseer had also been a victim of false rumors regarding his health. In May 2019, rumors of his death circulated on social media, but the French news agency AFP later declared those reports to be false.
