Danish Taimoor issues public apology for his remark on multiple marriages
Pakistani actor ctor and host Danish Taimoor has publicly apologized after facing backlash for comments he made about multiple marriages during a live Ramazan broadcast.
Taking to his Instagram, Taimoor shared an apology video, saying his choice of words was perhaps poor.
“I know you guys are a little upset with me. Whatever happened that day, some people think that I disrespected my wife, but that was not what happened and that was never my intention,” he said.
Taimoor also mentioned that throughout his 18-year career, he has mostly avoided controversies. “However, if my words hurt anyone, I sincerely apologize from the bottom of my heart.”
“I often use the word ‘filhal’ because I believe we won’t always be alive, and I focus on the present. I realize I shouldn’t have used that word at that moment—it was a slip of the tongue,” he explained.
“Trust me, I don’t want to upset you; my goal is to entertain you. I’ve devoted my life to your entertainment,” said the Haara Dil actor.
“I want everyone to be as happy as I am with my wife and kids in our home. There are no issues between Ayeza and me—thank God, we’re happy. So please, stay happy in your lives and keep us in your prayers.”
The controversy started when Taimoor, who co-hosts Mehfil-e-Ramzan with Rabia Anam, invited Ayeza Khan as a guest and discussed his right to marry four times while sitting beside her.
“If God has allowed something, then it is permitted. Just because I’m not doing it doesn’t change that,” he stated. “I say this in front of her and now to all of you: I am allowed to marry four times. However, out of love and respect for her, I want to spend my life with her for now.”
