Opposition Leader Omar Ayub and PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar strongly criticised President Asif Ali Zardari’s address to the joint session of parliament, calling it uninspiring and lacking substance.

Speaking to the media outside Parliament House, Ayub remarked, “There was nothing significant in President Zardari’s speech. What’s so special about Shehbaz Sharif’s regime that they are celebrating?”

Ayub accused the government of severe economic mismanagement, claiming that Karachi’s water resources were being exploited, national debt had surged by over Rs4 trillion, and inflation remained at record highs.

He also warned of an impending wheat crisis.

He further highlighted security and economic concerns, stating, “Petroleum smuggling in Balochistan is at its peak, Quetta has been in lockdown for three days, and two crore more people have fallen below the poverty line.”

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar also criticised the president, saying, “Zardari failed to represent the federation, which is why we welcomed him with protests.”

Inside the assembly, as Speaker Ayaz Sadiq invited President Zardari to speak, PTI lawmakers disrupted the session with loud chants and desk-thumping.

The protests intensified to the point that both the president and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had to wear headphones.

Throughout his speech, President Zardari remained unfazed, even smiling at the opposition’s uproar.

Meanwhile, Omar Ayub continued pounding his desk in protest, while PTI members raised slogans in support of their party founder, Imran Khan.
