Imran Khan reverses appointments made by Junaid Akbar: Azam Swati

PTI founder has met with Azam Swati and directed the reversal of appointments made by Junaid Akbar. He added that Sardar Khan and Ikramullah face corruption charges.

PTI founder’s focal person, Niazullah Niazi, mentioned that PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has said he will discuss the matter with Junaid Akbar regarding Azam Swati’s concerns.

Speaking to the media outside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, former minister Azam Swati stated that he met the PTI founder today along with two other individuals. He informed the PTI founder that Salman Akram Raja would not compromise on his principles and raised concerns about Sardar Khan and Ikramullah Niazi being given positions despite facing corruption charges.

Swati further mentioned that he briefed the PTI founder about corruption issues in Mansehra and emphasized the need for transparency in committee matters. He added that if the committee has made a decision, then the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker should resign. He also discussed concerns regarding Junaid Akbar with the PTI founder.

Azam Swati stated that the PTI founder has ordered the immediate reversal of these appointments. He also briefed him on Punjab’s political affairs and highlighted that Aaliya Hamza is being obstructed. Swati asserted that their priority is to secure the PTI founder’s release from jail and that Ali Amin Gandapur will not remain silent on corruption issues.

Meanwhile, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja stated that he will discuss Azam Swati’s concerns with Junaid Akbar. He also mentioned that if there are any issues in Punjab, they can be addressed through dialogue. Raja reassured that there are no major conflicts within the party, as minor differences are a normal part of internal matters.

Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, alongside other party leaders, PTI founder’s focal person, Niazullah Niazi, stated that, according to the Islamabad High Court’s larger bench decision, the scheduled meeting was not arranged today. Instead, only Azam Swati was granted a meeting as per the list prepared by PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja.

Niazullah Niazi affirmed their commitment to upholding the Islamabad High Court’s decision and alleged that the orders were being violated. He announced that they would be filing a contempt of court petition.

Meanwhile, PTI leader Mubashir Maqsood Awan told the media that the PTI founder had complained about not being provided books, not being allowed to speak to his children over the phone for the past seven months, and being restricted from holding political meetings.

Earlier, after the meeting with the PTI founder, Bushra Bibi, Azam Swati, and others exited the jail. At Gate 5, Azam Swati called Salman Akram Raja aside for a private consultation, excluding other leaders from the discussion.
