Abbasi urges Imran Khan to change his mindset for country’s interest
Awam Pakistan Party (AAP) leader and former Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has declared that the current rulers have not been elected, and there is no sign of stability in the country because attitudes and mindsets have not changed. We need to prioritize the country over power.
Speaking on Aaj News’ show News Insight with Amir Zia, Abbasi stated that this is the country’s need—that everyone steps back from their positions. The positions they are holding have neither legal nor moral legitimacy; for the country’s sake, they need to step back.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that today, our country is facing extraordinary circumstances, and to address these issues, we need extraordinary truth and action. The opposition can unify its thinking and change its attitude. Today, the biggest opposition party is Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which was also in power for four years. No government before them violated the Constitution as much as they did or damaged the rule of law to such an extent.
Former Prime Minister stated that they should reflect on what they were doing. The leadership of PTI that is outside jail agrees with this, but PTI is a party that has one leader, followed by the public and workers. The middle leadership neither has any authority nor public acceptance.

Abbasi slams door on PTI alliance, warns against unconstitutional moves
He said that if PTI Leader changes his attitude and mindset, it could benefit the country. He should accept the rule of law and the supremacy of the Constitution and prepare an agenda. He is fortunate to have a provincial government; he should run it and make it a model for the people.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi further stated that there is no “Charter of Demand”; instead, the differences and concerns among parties should be resolved. If PTI is fighting for constitutional supremacy, it should demonstrate it—this would be a good thing. However, PTI only focuses on getting Khan Sahib out of jail and having the cases against him dismissed. I also agree that these cases should be ended, but this should not be their primary goal.
He added that political leaders have been imprisoned in the past as well. However, if a party makes it their sole objective to free their leader and, using provincial government resources, launches an attack on the country’s capital, what kind of politics is that? Is this the mindset of legal and constitutional governance? Opposition requires patience, and Khan Sahib’s attitude has always been the same.
Regarding confrontation after Eid, the head of Awam Pakistan Party questioned what kind of confrontation would take place in the country. Are the circumstances in Pakistan such that confrontation is possible? The situation is tense because the rulers are sitting on borrowed chairs; they have no real authority and are merely passing time. Those who do have power must realize that certain fundamental elements are essential for governance. If there is no rule of law in a country, then only God can help us.
He further said that Awam Pakistan Party is making its efforts, taking its message to everyone, and is capable of discussing the country’s issues. In my personal opinion, compared to any other party, we have the capability. When the issue of solar energy arose, only we spoke about it. The only party genuinely discussing national issues is Awam Pakistan Party. Undoubtedly, electables are important in politics, but only when the time is right. When the time comes, God willing, people will turn toward us.
