New ministers get portfolios: Hanif Abbasi railways, Ali Parvez petroleum, Mustafa Kamal health

The newly inducted members of the federal cabinet have been assigned their ministries, while several ministers have had their portfolios changed.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also appointed new advisers and special assistants.

Following the recent expansion of the federal cabinet, a reshuffle was carried out, with federal ministers and ministers of state receiving new assignments. The Cabinet Division has issued a notification confirming these appointments and transfers.

According to the notification, Tariq Fazal has been given the portfolio of Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Parvez Malik has been assigned the Petroleum Ministry, and Aurangzeb Khichi will oversee National Heritage.

Khalid Magsi has been appointed Minister for Science and Technology, while Hanif Abbasi will now head the Railways Ministry. Moeen Wattoo has been given Water Resources, and Junaid Anwar has been assigned Maritime Affairs.

Sardar Yousaf will handle Religious Affairs, Raza Hayat Harraj has been appointed Minister for Defence Production, and Shaza Fatima will lead the Information Technology Ministry.

Rana Mubashir Iqbal has been given charge of the Public Affairs Unit, while Mustafa Kamal has been appointed Minister for National Health Services.

Additionally, Syed Tauqir Shah has been appointed adviser to the Prime Minister’s Office, and Muhammad Ali will serve as Adviser on Privatisation. Former KP chief minister Pervez Khattak has been named adviser on interior affairs.

Among the special assistants, Haroon Akhtar has been assigned industries and production, Huzaifa Rahman will handle national cultural heritage, Mubarak Zeb will oversee tribal affairs, and Talha Barki will advise on political matters.

Aleem Khan to step down from two ministries

Meanwhile, federal minister Abdul Aleem Khan has decided to relinquish two of his three portfolios. He will step down from the Privatisation and Investment Board ministries.

Sources confirm that Aleem Khan has taken Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif into confidence regarding his decision, citing the need to focus on a single ministry. He will now retain only the Communications Ministry.

Aleem Khan previously held portfolios for Privatisation, Investment and Communications. A senior politician, he also serves as the president of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party.
