Weather update: Pakistan Meteorological Department makes forecast for Ramazan’s first Friday
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has made a weather forecast for Ramazan’s first Friday (today) as many parts of the country receive rain and snowfall.
“Dry weather is expected in most parts of the country, while cold in hilly areas during morning/night hours,” the Met Office said in its daily weather update. “However, gusty winds are likely in central/southern parts during daytime.”
The Islamic holy month began on March 2 in Pakistan after the Ramazan moon was not sighted in the country on February 28.
Although the weather has been dry in the Southern part, the upper parts have received rain and snowfall over the last one week because of the westerly wave.
Cold and dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country while very cold in hilly areas over the last 24 hours. The recorded lowest minimum temperature (°C) was Leh -13, Astore, -06, Kalam -04, Gupis and Hunza -02.
Rain was reported in several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab last week after the Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted widespread rain-wind and thunderstorms with snowfall over the hills across various regions of the country till March 2.
Meanwhile, if reports are to be believed, it is expected that Eidul Fitr 2025 can likely bring a long nine-day holiday for people in Pakistan.
Last month, the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission predicted that Eid in Pakistan could fall on March 31.
