Pakistan rejects claims of mistreatment of Afghan citizens

Foreign Office responds to Afghan envoy’s allegations

The spokesperson for Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Shafqat Ali Khan, has dismissed claims of mistreatment of Afghan citizens, calling them baseless.

His remarks come in response to allegations made by the Afghan chargé d’affaires regarding the treatment of Afghan nationals.

Khan stated that Pakistan has hosted Afghan refugees with dignity and respect for decades, despite minimal international support.

“We have shared our resources, including access to education and healthcare, to accommodate Afghan citizens,” he added.

He emphasized that Afghan authorities were actively engaged in facilitating the return of their nationals.

Khan further urged Afghanistan’s interim government to create favourable conditions for returnees, ensuring their smooth reintegration into Afghan society.

He asserted that the real test for Afghan authorities lies in safeguarding the rights of their returning citizens.
