The Indian Supreme Court has prohibited YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia from hosting any further shows on video sharing website after criticising his “inappropriate remarks” on comedian Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent on Tuesday.

Allahbadia, who hosts BeerBiceps, got into hot waters after his controversial comments on the popular show. He apologised for his comments, saying that comedy does not suits him.

Last week, YouTube took down the episode of Raina’s show, featuring popular podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, after the Indian government issued a notice regarding the content.

Raina also removed all episodes of his show from his YouTube channel after backlash stemming from “indecent jokes”.

The SC also remarked that the podcaster seemed to have something “very dirty” in his mind that he expressed on the show, according to reports.

“Such behaviour has to be condemned. Just because you are popular, you cannot take society for granted. Is there anyone on earth who would like this language? There is something very dirty in his mind which has been vomited. Why should we protect him,” the court said.

Allahbadia approached the SC to challenge the FIRs filed against him for his purportedly offensive comments during the YouTube show, seeking to consolidate all the complaints.

A bench comprising justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh reviewed the case.

The court granted the podcaster relief by protecting him from arrest. The court also ordered him to surrender his passport and not leave the country without prior approval.

“If any other FIR on the same set of allegations is registered in Jaipur, arrest of the petitioner shall remain stayed. The petitioner shall deposit his passport at the Thane Police Station. He shall not leave the country without prior permission of this court,” Justice Kant added.
