Special ceremony to be held by US Consulate on February 18 in recognition of officers' exemplary service

The US General Consulate has announced plans to award certificates of appreciation to 16 officials for their excellent care of American citizen Onija Andrew Robinson, who arrived in Karachi.

According to reports, the certificates will be presented to FIA, police, and airport medical staff members for their professionalism and care towards Robinson.

A special ceremony to honour these officials will take place on February 18 in the afternoon.

The 16 officers set to be recognised include Director of FIA Karachi Noman Siddiqui, Deputy Director of Immigration Bahawal Dosto, Assistant Director of Immigration Abdul Jabbar, Immigration Officers Ghulam Sarwar and Umar Daraz, and Police Officer Shabana Jilani.

Other officers who will be honoured include Noshin Akhtar, SHO Airport Kaleem Musa, Protocol Officer Syed Danish, Furqan Rahim, Sagheer Ahmed, Director Airport Security Force Ihsan Ullah, and several members of the airport medical staff, including Executive Director Shahid Rasool, Joint Director Muhammad Suleman, Deputy Director Yahya Tanu, and Dr Chuni Lal.

It is worth noting that Robinson, who came to Karachi out of love for a Pakistani man but failed to achieve her goal, was detained by Dubai authorities.

She had arrived in Dubai from Karachi on February 7, via flight EK 603, intending to catch her connecting flight EK 203 to New York.

However, she missed the flight and, as an American citizen, entered Dubai on an on-arrival visa.

Her family and colleagues awaited her arrival in New York, but when she did not show up, US authorities began searching for her.

Videos of Robinson in Dubai streets prompted US officials to act, contacting Emirati authorities, who then restricted her movement and took her into custody.
