American woman, heartbroken over Pakistani lover, detained in Dubai
Onija Andrew Robinson, an American woman who travelled to Pakistan for love but returned heartbroken, has been taken into protective custody in Dubai.
According to Arab media, Onija Andrew Robinson arrived in Dubai on February 7 from Karachi via Emirates flight EK603. She was scheduled to board flight EK203 to New York but did not take the flight.
As an American citizen, she entered Dubai on an on-arrival visa. Sources report that her family and officials in New York were expecting her arrival, but when she failed to reach her destination, US authorities began searching for her.
Videos of her wandering the streets of Dubai surfaced, prompting U.S. agencies to alert UAE authorities. Consequently, her movements were restricted, and she was taken into custody.

It is noteworthy that Onija had initially travelled from the U.S. to Karachi in October 2024, reportedly for a Pakistani man she was in love with. After four months (120 days) in Pakistan, she left on February 7 via Emirates flight EK603, intending to return to the US via Dubai.
