Onijah Andrew Robinson, a US woman who is in Karachi for past several month in search of her Pakistani lover and has made headlines recently, has been moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), Karachi due to concerns about her mental health.

Sources told Aaj News that she has been speaking incoherently and has swelling in her hands and feet. She is currently at the JPMC’s Department of Psychiatry, awaiting a detailed examination.

Jeremiah Andrew Robinson, Onijah’s son, revealed earlier this week that his mother is mentally unstable and has cognitive impairments.

In a video statement, he said she was supposed to return from Pakistan after two weeks when she landed in the country in October but she never did. He further revealed that he and his brother even purchased a return ticket for her, but she did not use it.

According to Robinson, his mother suffered from a mental illness that impaired her cognitive abilities. He explained that his mother’s actions and claims should be viewed in this context.

Separately, Onijah’s criminal record suggests she was arrested for “ENTERING PREMISES AFTER WARNING” in Charleston County in South Carolina in 2021. It also revealed that a bail bond was set at $465. However, it is not clear if the bond was paid.

The 33-year-old US national made headlines after she refused to take a flight from Karachi and left the airport to forcibly enter a residential building in Karachi’s Garden East area on Wednesday.

She refused to leave ignoring pleas by the residents of the building and the police.

A two-member team from the US Consulate met with Onijah at the airport on January 29. The team informed airport authorities that they could not forcibly remove Robinson, as doing so would be illegal and could lead to legal action against the US government and the consulate.

Onijah visited the same residential building once again on Friday, shortly after she held a press conference with Ramzan Chhipa, the head of a local charity organization. At one point during the press conference, she engaged in an altercation with Chhipa telling him that “you speak too much.”
